How to Get More Horsepower in a 2008 Dodge Hemi Pickup

by MickeyV

If you own a 2008 Dodge Hemi pickup truck and would like to increase the already powerful engine, there are a number of things you can do to boost the horsepower. The truck's Hemi engine already has approximately 480 horsepower. However, increasing the horsepower will give your truck an even greater speed boost.

Step 1

Change your air filter. While the air filter in the Hemi truck is already better than most stock air filters, it will not produce the same horsepower increase as an aftermarket product. Adding an aftermarket air filter can boost your performance by as much as 20 horsepower.

Step 2

Remove and replace the truck's spark plug wires. Old spark plugs increase resistance within the engine, thereby reducing the truck's horsepower. Hire an auto professional to do the replacement work.

Step 3

Add coolant additives to the truck's coolant reservoir. Additives will decrease the temperature of the engine and its components while driving, resulting in increased horsepower output. Additives can reduce the temperature by as much as 30 degrees Fahrenheit.
