Weeping Mulberry Tree Growth Rate

All mulberry trees, including the weeping mulberry tree, fall into the fast-growing tree category. The trees grow best when planted in USDA hardiness zone 5 to 8 where they can get plenty of summertime heat. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Annual Growth

    • The weeping mulberry tree grows from 10 to 12 inches each year. This rate of growth continues during the first 4 to 6 years of the tree's life.

    Size

    • The tree rapidly grows up to 8 to 15 feet in height. Its weeping form spreads up to 15 feet in width. The tree produces long branches that resemble a growing umbrella with the branches almost reaching to the ground.

    Requirements

    • During the first two years after planting, mulberry trees require lots of water. Once the trees are established, they require watering during times of drought to keep their roots from drying out. The trees also require as much sunlight as possible to grow rapidly. Heat helps the trees thrive and grow. Sometimes staking is required since the trees can get top heavy during the first few years.
