What Do You Use to Clean the Glass on a Copier?

Cleaning the glass is mandatory when you use a copier.

Copiers require regular cleaning and each component involves a different method of cleaning. The glass inside the copier must stay clean to prevent smudges and other problems from appearing on the printed pages.

Cleaning Products

Antistatic cleaners are one way to clean the glass. These products keep the glass clean, but prevent any static from clinging to the glass. Static causes pages to stick to the glass surface. You may also use any liquid cleaner designed for use on glass.

The Method

Spray the glass cleaner directly on a lint-free cloth. Wipe the cloth across the surface of the glass and dry with another cloth. Use a gentle hand to keep smudges and streaks from appearing on the glass.

Warning

Don't use acetone- or benzene-based cleaners or abrasive cleaners on the copier glass. These can cause scratches and other damage. Don't spray the cleaner directly on the glass, either, as the liquid can drip into the copier.
