Different Kinds of Beanies

Beanie hats are brimless caps that hug the head. Most are made from woven materials worn in the winter season and come in many different styles.

Woven

Woven beanies are handmade from spools of wool or cotton. Loosely woven hats are worn during the fall while thicker, tightly woven caps are meant to trap heat for colder winter days.

Propeller

The most well-known beanie is the propeller hat, a multicolored cap with a small plastic rotary propeller at the peak. Children are associated with this type of cap. This hat is also used for comedic purposes when worn by an adult showing immaturity.

Fleece

Popular with skiers and snowboarders, fleece beanie are thin, yet trap maximum amounts of heat. Many athletes wear fleece beanies under a helmet or hooded jacket.
