Care Instructions for a Burning Bush

Burning bush (Euonymus alatus) is an easy-to-grow shrub with a mature height of 6 to 10 feet. The bright red fall foliage color gives the plant its name. Burning bush is hardy in USDA zones 4 to 8.

Soil

Plant burning bush in a well-drained soil. The plant is intolerant of heavy clay soil and adapts to alkalinity. Cover the roots with organic mulch to retain moisture.

Water

Water the plant regularly during dry weather spells. Also water regularly if growing in areas of full sun.

Light

Burning bush adapts well to areas of full sun to full shade. The plant prefers to grow in partial shade.

Propagation

Burning bush grows easily from seed. You can also propagate the shrub from greenwood cuttings taken during spring or summer.
