Geiger Counter Repair

Geiger counters detect the presence of radioactive material.

Geiger counters are devices that display radiation levels by detecting the presence of radioactive particles in an area. Because of their important function, it is important to regularly calibrate the machines and repair them as necessary.

Geiger-Mueller Tube

Geiger counters are built around Geiger-Mueller tubes. These are ionized tubes that detect and count particles of radiation.

Calibrations

Geiger counters must be recalibrated every year to ensure their accuracy. When one of these devices is calibrated, the technician puts a sticker with the date of calibration on the device itself. Use this sticker to determine when the device needs to be recalibrated.

Repair

Broken Geiger counters need to be sent back to their vendor or manufacturer for repair. If the Geiger counter has simply run out of battery power and uses batteries you can buy over the counter, you can replace them yourself.
