What to Do With a Broken Screen Gazebo?
If you have a screened-in porch or gazebo on your property, eventually a screen will tear and need to be replaced. There are two common ways of attaching these screens, each with its own method of replacement. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Identification
-
Screens are attached in sections between the posts holding up the roof. The screen will either be attached by a screen system that frames each opening, or attached under wooden trim nailed to each post.
Replacement with Screen System
-
Simply pry the caps off the damaged section, and cut a new piece of screen to fit the space. Hang the new screen in place, and replace the caps by tapping them into place with a rubber mallet. Have someone else on hand to pull the screen taut while the caps are replaced.
-
Replacement with Wood Trim
-
Remove the trim around the damaged section by prying it away with the claw of a hammer. Remove the finish nails or staples from the trim piece. Staple a new screen into place, and replace the trim.
