The name "Osram Sylvania" is a conflation of two lighting companies that merged in 1993 when Osram purchased Sylvania. The Osram MR16 50W lamp is a halogen light that is appropriate for commercial purposes due to the elimination of UV-B and UV-C radiation.

Energy, Angle and Life

The Osram MR16 50 watt bulb uses 12 volts of power and produces a 36 degree beam. MR16 lamps have a life of approximately 4,000 hours.

Color Consistency

Osram MR16 50W lamps are coated with a hardened titanium oxide reflective surface to maintain the same color light throughout the life of the bulb. Filaments are also aligned precisely to increase the light consistency provided by the dichroic reflector surface.

Efficiency

The halogen capsule for the Osram MR16 50w bulb has a thin, multi-layer coating that is designed to allow the visible portion of the spectrum to exit the lamp while returning infrared energy back to the filament. This results in a 30% increase in energy efficiency.
