Seaglass Ideas

Combing the beach for sea glass is a favorite past-time for many.

Sea glass can be purchased or combed from beaches. The colorful and weathered fragments of glass have most notably been used in jewelry design. Sea glass pieces vary in size, color and shape. Some are clear and many are translucent.

Jewelry Design

Professional and amateur jewelry designers make earrings, bracelets, rings and necklaces using sea glass and other materials. Gold, silver and copper and stainless steel wire is commonly used in designs.

Hobbies

Adding sea glass to water fountains, aquariums, water gardens and ponds creates color, texture and depth to water wonderlands.

Art/Crafts

Mosaics, pottery and stepping stones glean an added dimension when sea glass is glued, grouted or embedded as part of a design. Other artisans make sun catchers and stained glass window panes with sea glass. It has also been used as a medium for large scale murals.

Placing sea glass in a clear bottle with a neck large enough to hold a taper candle makes an inventive candle holder. Sea glass is also glued onto mirrors and picture frames.
