Arcade Monitor Repair

A multimeter comes in handy during arcade monitor repair.

Arcade monitors work very much like television screens. Clear functioning screens are considered crucial for both. Monitor repair tools, repair kits and details on known trouble areas--such as fuses--can provide beneficial information regarding arcade monitor repair.

Tools

Tools such as a soldering iron can prove useful during arcade monitor repair. A multimeter is valuable in helping to test high voltage areas within the monitor. An Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) meter can be used as well. It allows for the testing of capacitors without the need to remove them.

Cap Kit

Cap Kits include all the electrolytic capacitors needed to replace those existing in an arcade monitor. Cap kits fix fading color issues, as well as problems with lines that run across the upper portion of the screen. It's best to replace all capacitors, even if only one is damaged.

Fuses

When an arcade monitor fails to turn on, fuses are sometimes the cause. Tracing the power cord will lead you to the main power source, which is where the fuses are located. Check and replace bad fuses to see if that fixes the problem.
