The Quality of Russian Radiant Diamonds for Jewelry

Although Russian radiant diamonds are not diamonds at all, they are in high demand for fine jewelry. Made from high grade cubic zirconium, they are cut and polished to the same standards as real diamonds. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. History

    • Russian radiant diamonds are created from zirconium oxide and yttrium oxide melted together. After being heated and blended at temperatures of almost 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit, this mixture is then cooled to form crystals. These crystals are then cut into the radiant pattern and polished.

    Radiant Cut

    • Radiant cut stones have at least 62 facets on a square or rectangular shape. The large number of facets provides more light reflection which gives greater brilliance and depth to the stone. A radiant cut is often used for center stones and those with color. It is usually selected for the best stones.

    Comparison

    • While most cubic zirconium is mass produced and polished, Russian radiant diamonds come from the best crystals, then are hand-cut into a radiant pattern and individually polished. It is this attention that often gives them greater light reflection than real diamonds.
