Honda Car Stalling Problems

Honda stalling problems are easy to correct.

Honda vehicles are known for their reliability and high fuel mileage. As with any vehicle, problems start to arise around the 100,000 mile mark, according to Edmunds.com. One of the most common problems to affect Honda owners are stalling problems. The issue is typically brought about as a result of deficient gas flow to the engine. The problem is diagnosed in a few easy steps.

Fuel Pump

Check the fuel pump to verify that it is working in a satisfactory manner. If the engine is not getting sufficient gas, it will stall.

Fuel Intake

Test the fuel intake. If the fuel pump is working properly, than a blockage to the fuel intake may be starving your engine of gas, which can lead to a stall. Check the outside of the gas tank for any signs of corrosion. If the gas tank is rusted, it can cause pieces of metal to break off the inside of the tank and seize up the fuel intake, which can block the flow of gasoline to the engine. This resulting blockage can starve the engine of gas and will cause your Honda to stall.

Solution

Remove the faulty fuel pump if necessary. If the fuel intake is clogged, flush the fuel line and install a gas tank that is treated to be corrosion resistant. If neither of these steps solves the problem, consult a certified mechanic.
