The Performance of a Yamaha TMAX 500

The Yamaha TMAX 500 is a scooter that performs like a sport bike.

The Yamaha TMAX 500 is manufactured by the Yamaha Motor Company. It was first introduced to the U.S. market in 2009. The TMAX 500 is a borderline sport bike rather than scooter. The designers at Yamaha were inspired by the R-series sport bikes.

Engine

The Yamaha TMAX is equipped with a 499 cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke, forward inclined parallel twoo-cylinder, DOHC, four-valve engine. This engine allows the Tmax to reach a top speed of 106 miles per hour, and cruise comfortably in the 80 mph range.

Handling

Light weight and a low center of gravity allow the TMAX 500 to easily navigate around the tightest corners. There are twin 267 mm discs up front, held by four-pot mono-block calipers, which allow the TMAX to stay level under hard braking circumstances.

Fuel Economy

The Yamaha TMAX 500 carries a four-gallon fuel tank. The estimated fuel economy for the TMAX is around 47 miles per gallon. At cruising speed of 80 to 90 mph, drivers experienced gas mileage in the 40 to 45 mpg range.
