  1. Identification

    • Cymbidium orchids range in height from 1 to 4 feet. They have an average spread of 9 inches to 3 feet. The flower is available in most colors, with the exception of true red, purple and blue. Cymbidium orchids bloom once a year. The time frame is dependent on each particular species. Blossom size ranges from 1 to 5 inches in circumference.

    Planting Considerations

    • This orchid is recommended for USDA hardiness zones 10 to 12. For best results, re-pot Cymbidiums every two or three years sometime in the spring. These flowers last approximately 10 weeks.

    Habitat

    • Cymbidium orchids prefer bright sunlight and daytime temperatures of 65 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Humidity levels should be between 50 and 60 percent. Planting them in potting soil is recommended. Water enough to keep soil moist.
