Euphorbia Plant Care

The Euphorbia ingens, also known as the cowboy cactus and candelabra tree, is a succulent plant that looks like a large cactus. Native to parts of Africa and Southeast Asia, the Euphorbia can make a good houseplant with the proper care. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Time Frame

    • If you live in a place with warm summers, you can set your Euphorbia plant outside during June, July and August. However, make sure you bring the plant in well before the first frost.

    Light and Water

    • Euphorbias thrive when given full sunlight and planted in well-drained soil. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Fertilize once per year in the spring with a balanced fertilizer.

    Warning

    • Grow your Euphorbia plant out of reach of children and pets. Its sap is extremely poisonous and can cause blisters if it comes into contact with skin. Take extreme care not to get the sap in your eyes, as it can cause blindness.
