What Are the Benefits of a Charcoal Lined Cabin Air Filter?

A cabin air filter is used to prevent foreign materials from entering your car via the ventilation system. About 80 percent of cars on the market today come equipped with a cabin air filter. A charcoal lined filter provides additional benefits over a non-charcoal filter.

Odors

A charcoal lined air filter is layered with activated carbon that reacts to odors. The activated carbon neutralizes odors and prevents the smells from entering the vehicle.

Carbon Monoxide

Charcoal lined filters also help to reduce the levels of carbon monoxide and oxides of nitrogen that enter the cabin of the car. Tests have shown that a car in congested traffic conditions without a carbon lined filter will intake three times the amount of carbon monoxide.
