Public Outreach Grants
Public outreach grants provide funding for making the results of scientific studies and academic research available to the public at large. Funded by research institutes, universities and scholarly societies worldwide, these grants support projects such as press conferences, educational materials, media events and community activities.

Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council

Canada's Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) offers annual grants from $1,000 to $2,000 for projects that educate and inform the public about research on social science and humanities subjects. SSHRC grants provide funding for publicity, disseminating information through translations and adaptations, holding media events and creating interactive technologies.
NASA's Science Mission Directorate

Under the Science Mission Directorate, NASA provides funding up to $100,000 (as of 2010) annually for up to three years for projects which teach and encourage science knowledge for children, and to support educators in creating science activities in schools. Southeastern Archaeological Conference

The Southeastern Archaeological Conference provides a number of small grants (up to $2,000 annually as of 2010) for outreach projects which increase the awareness of archaeology in general and knowledge of the archaeology of the Southeastern United States in particular. This and other scholarly societies support activities which broaden the public's understanding of science.
