Why Is My Address Bar on Top of My Menu Bar?

Internet Explorer lets you customize the toolbars at the top of your browser window. You can place the address bar at the top or below the menu bar. If you accidentally drag the address bar to the top, you can drag it back down below the menu bar.

  1. Function

    • The Internet Explorer menu has a group of dotted lines on the far left of the menus. The dotted lines let you customize the width and location of the menu compartments.

    Movement

    • To move your address bar below the menu, click the dotted lines and drag the mouse below the menu items. Let go of the mouse button and the menu moves from the top to below the menu items.

    Considerations

    • You can lock the menu compartments so you do not accidentally move the menu items. Click the "Tools" button in Internet Explorer. Click "Toolbars," then click "Lock the Toolbars." This option locks the toolbars in place.
