Sharp LCD Problems

Sharp Electronics manufactures Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) monitors for computers. LCD monitors made by Sharp have a reputation for developing issues that result in the flickering or distortion of images.

Distortion

If an LCD monitor distorts the image on the display, it can be symptomatic of a couple of issues. First, the resolution settings could be off. You can readjust the settings to sharpen the image. If this does not fix the problem, then the problem may be a damaged or defective graphics card. The graphics card interprets the data from the computer and translates it into an image on the LCD screen.

Flickering

Sharp LCD monitors may flicker. Occasional flickering may go away by restarting the computer. However, if the flickering continues for a lengthy amount of time, it can mean that the fluorescent tubes in the screen are faulty.

Blacking Out

An LCD monitor from Sharp may experience blackouts. Sharp monitors are designed to go into a sleep mode to save battery power. This causes the screen to darken or black out. However, blackouts not caused by being in sleep mode may be due to a problem with the backlight bulb. If the backlight bulb burns out, then the image may be lost and the screen can go blank.
