VoIP & Home Security Systems
Though the VoIP system offers a cheaper telephone service to your household, it is not compatible with most traditional phone-rigged alarm systems or is faulty enough at times to expose the alarm system to risk.

Digital Signals
-
Sometimes it happens that a digital signal upon conversion into an analog, and then back to an analog system, gets lost in transition. While most traditional systems use analog transmission, VoIP does not as it transmits along a digital line.
Direct Power Supply
-
VoIP systems do not work without direct power supply. In this case the router needs a fulltime backup else if the power fails, the alarm system does not get triggered as the router has no power.

Disabling Alarm
-
There are multiple weak points through which the alarm can be disabled. While a traditional phone line needs a wire cut, this system can be interrupted by simply unplugging the router or turning off the power.
