What Is an Unknown XSLT Function?

If a style sheet calls for a function that isn't there it creates an unknown XSLT function.

An unknown XSLT function is an error that occurs when a style sheet attempts to call a function that is not there, or that is not compatible with the current version of XSLT.

XSLT

XSL is an acronym for EXtensible Stylesheet Language. XSLT is an acronym for XSL Transformations. It is a programming language that controls stylesheets using XML code.

Function

In computer programming a function is a section of that program that performs a specific task. According to Webopedia, "The term function is also used synonymously with operation and command. For example, you execute the delete function to erase a word."

Solution

There isn't much that a user or a visitor to a website can do about XSLT errors. The errors generally occur because of a problem in the original programming or coding of the site. It is always a good idea though to make sure that you are using the most recent version of your web browser. Doing so will reduce the number of errors that occur because of browser compatibility problems. Most modern web browsers will alert you when a newer version becomes available.
