Wedding Announcement Wording for Divorced Parents

Wedding Announcement Wording for Divorced Parents thumbnail
Announce your new marriage to family and friends.

Wedding announcements are used to share the news of your marriage. When your parents are divorced, the right wording can express what is in your heart on that special day without making anyone feeling excluded.

  1. Neither Parent Re-married

    • If neither parent has been re-married, both names are listed separately. An announcement from the bride's parents uses the following wording:

Mr. Jim Jones and Ms. Susan Jones

Announce the marriage of their daughter

      Sally Jones

    One Parent has Re-married

    • If one parent has been re-married, you can include the stepparent in the announcement:

      Mr. Jim Jones

      and

      Mr. and Mrs. William Smith

      Announce

      The marriage of their daughter

      Sally Jones

    Both Parents Re-married

    • When both parents have re-married, it is appropriate to include both stepparents in the announcement:

      Mr. and Mrs. Jim Jones

      and

      Mr. and Mrs. William Smith

Announce the marriage of their daughter

      Sally Jones
