What Season Do You Plant Garbanzo Beans in?

Plant in the spring when the daytime temperature is reliably between 70 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit and when the nighttime temperature is between 64 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

Plant garbanzo beans in a smooth seedbed with fertile, sandy soil. These plants require good drainage, so avoid areas that become easily flooded or waterlogged.

Spacing

Space the garbanzo bean seeds in rows that are between 6 and 40 inches apart. Space the seeds about 1 foot apart in their respective rows and plant the seeds between 1 and 2 inches deep. Purdue University recommends using a drill or a planter to ensure that the seeds go into the ground without injury to the seed itself.
