Many old ideas of what should and shouldn't be done for a second wedding are obsolete. It is commonly accepted that the bride can wear white. The number of guests is limited only by space and budget. But who pays for all of it?

  1. The Couple

    • Most second weddings are financed by the bride and groom. Be sure to discuss the budget with your spouse-to-be before planning the event and do no be afraid to speak up if costs seem to be getting out of control.

    Parents

    • Neither the groom nor the bride's parents should be expected to shoulder the cost of a second wedding. Especially if they paid for the first one, it is bad etiquette to ask them again. However, some parents may want to foot the bill, depending on their financial means and whether they contributed to their child's first one.

    Other Relatives

    • While no rules exist on aunts, uncles, grandparents or anyone else assisting with your wedding finances, you shouldn't turn them down should they offer.
