When you pop a CD into the player, you expect it to work.

When you hit the "Play" button on your personal CD player, you expect to hear your favorite tunes. If you are having difficulty with the volume control, there are a few strategies you can use to troubleshoot the problem.

  1. Headphones

    • Ensure the headphones are plugged squarely into the headphone jack. If it is only halfway in, the sound may seem faint or may be absent altogether.

    Scratched CD

    • Make sure the problem isn't with the CD. If the CD is scratched or otherwise damaged, it may impede the player's volume control mechanism from doing its job.

    Batteries

    • Make sure your batteries are fully functioning. If the volume begins to weaken and your CD's back light gets dimmer, replace your batteries.
