Car Audio Installation Training
Car audio installation technicians install, maintain and troubleshoot radios, compact disc players and speakers in vehicles. Some install DVD players. They use a wide array of tools and diagnostic equipment to give customers a better listening experience while driving. Car audio installation technicians can be trained in a variety of ways.

Most car audio installation technicians need no more than a high school diploma and strong knowledge of car audio devices to land a job. They can receive additional training through vocational schools or community colleges, which offer courses in related areas such as math, telecommunications and electronics.
Certification

Certification programs are one way for car audio installation technicians to receive training and perhaps increase their chances of advancement. These programs are offered by professional groups, such as the Electronics Technicians Association, and generally consist of study guides and testing. They typically take anywhere from one day to a week to complete.

On the Job

Car audio installation technicians can receive the majority of their training after taking their first job. Once hired, technicians learn by trial and error, as well as via instruction from a supervisor or experienced co-worker.
