How Did the Toolbar Disappear in Outlook Express?
Like most computer software programs, the toolbar in Outlook Express allows users to perform certain actions. This toolbar is optionally visible and thus Outlook Express may sometimes run with the toolbar hidden.

User Toggled Option
-
As with toolbars in other programs, it is possible to toggle the visibility of the toolbar in Outlook Express. If you happen to do this accidentally, you can easily restore the toolbar. Right-click on the menu and choose "Toolbar." This should make the toolbar visible again.
Registry Error
-
The Windows registry stores hundreds of user toggled options and can be edited to force certain changes. To force toolbar visibility, open the "regedit" program and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\[different for every user]\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\[version number].
Once there, edit the "Browser Bands" value and change the fifth number to "03."

Corrupt Installation
-
Occasionally, programs may become corrupted. In this situation, usually the only fix is to uninstall and reinstall the program. If you have determined that nothing else will restore the Outlook Express toolbar, you should reinstall the program, which will restore all default settings.
