Speaker Tube Vs. Subwoofer

Car enthusiasts take pride in their vehicle right down to the sound it projects. Factory stock speakers can be easily replaced with customized speakers geared toward the driver's desires, including the addition of low bass type speakers.

  1. Function

    • Low bass speakers, such as speaker tubes and subwoofers, give the driver the lower levels of sound that the treble and mid-range speakers lack. Often, the sound is coupled with vibration from the low bass speakers.

    Types

    • A basic subwoofer resembles a typical car speaker installed within the body of the vehicle, but the sound levels it carries are from the lower end of the spectrum. In contrast, speaker tubes are subwoofers enclosed within a tube, allowing sound to reverberate out the end.

    Significance

    • Subwoofers give quality bass sound as well as volume. Speaker tubes have the benefit of saving space with their design but do not have the same quality and volume that a subwoofer contains.
