Numerology explores the connection between the physical world and numbers. Many who use numerology seek to gain understanding about themselves and discover hidden truths about the world by using numbers.

Pythagoras is known for developing the Pythagorean Theorem. Pythagoras, born in Greece, is given credit for developing the ideas behind numerology. The mathematician, who lived between 569 B.C. and 470 B.C., believed that the universe could be manifested by numbers. Pythagoras' mathematical foundations led other Greek philosophers to expand on this idea.

Chaldean Numerology also focuses on the power of vibrations. Even before Pythagoras, other ancient nations made significant advances in numerology. In Egypt and Babylon, the Hebrews created a system of numerology called Chaldean or "Mystic Numerology". Chaldean Numerology uses both the person's name and birth date simultaneously. Numerology was also practiced in China, Japan and Rome.

Numerology can be used to find a person's lucky numbers to be used in the future. Numerology is used in astrology, alchemy, science and gaming. In astrology, the experts believed that the numbers zero through nine are ruled by a celestial body in the earth's solar system. In gaming, numerology is used to find the lucky numbers that the player can depend on.

Dr. Julia Seton promoted Mrs. L. Dow Balliett's books in numerology, In the 19th and 20th century, Mrs. L. Dow Balliett and Dr. Julia Seton were responsible for the resurgence of numerology and creating an interest in numerology in the United States. Mrs. L. Dow Balliett began studying numerology once she realized each letter in a name had its own vibration.
Misconceptions

Only you can determine your final outcome, not your name or birthdate. Changing your name does not necessarily change your fate or destiny. Numerology interprets the current conditions and the person's personality. Therefore changing your name will not dramatically increase your chances for success or plummet you to failure.
