What Is the Advantage of an IP Camera System?
Video surveillance is an important part of many businesses today. The increasing use of IP camera systems has brought a lot of changes to video surveillance.
-
Definition
-
An Internet protocol (IP) camera system is a standalone system responsible for recording, transmitting, and to some extent, saving surveillance data. This system uses a fixed IP address to record and transmit a quality much higher than a standard closed circuit television (CCTV) system.
Purpose
-
Setting up a CCTV system is more expensive than setting up an IP system. The amount of hardware required is also less and you can view the feeds remotely from a Web browser with an IP system. Lower costs do not necessarily mean a decrease in quality as it transmits video in direct relation with the bandwidth used.
-
Differences
-
IP camera systems offer flexibility and mobility not offered by traditional surveillance systems. However, the risk of a breach is also increased if all around surveillance is not set up, unlike an analog system which requires round-the-clock surveillance.
