Benefits
-
Using a strawberry planter for herbs provides a unique and attractive container for growing several types of herbs together. You can create several different decorative combinations in the planters. Additionally, plant the most used kitchen herbs together for convenience and place the planter on a kitchen window or patio.
Types
-
Several types of herbs are suited for container growing. Choose herbs based on their decorative qualities or their usefulness in the kitchen. Many herbs grow well in containers, including lavender, sage, rosemary, thyme, dill, oregano and basil. Most herbs will not outgrow their containers; however, be aware that large shrubby herbs may smother smaller herbs in the side pockets if they grow too large.

Method
-
To plant herbs in a strawberry planter, fill the container with fresh potting soil. Plant starter plants in the top and main opening. Place additional herbs in each of the side pockets. For best results, use the main opening for perennial and taller growing herbs and the side pockets for annual and smaller or trailing herbs. Trim overly large or shrubby herbs regularly.
