How Does Navigon Work? thumbnail
The Navigon is the modern way to use GPS.

The Navigon company manufactures navigation systems, which are also known as global positioning systems (GPS). Besides creating a variety of mobile navigation systems, Navigon also produces GPS software for consumer electronic manufacturers, as it claims on its website.

  1. Types

    • Current Navigon navigation systems are available for the iPhone, for Windows phones and PDAs, smartphones and the Android operating system. The Navigon can also be used on the iPad and iPod Touch. Two versions of Navigon are available for purchase: MobileNavigator iPhone for Apple devices, and MobileNavigator Windows for Windows phones. The four different types of Navigon are: North America, U.S. East, U.S. Central and U.S. West.

    Getting Navigon

    • Navigon can be purchased, and downloaded straight to a mobile device. The Navigon website provides links to downloads of the appropriate type of Navigon. For Apple devices, it can also be obtained via iTunes, or through the App Store for iPhones. For Windows phones, Navigon can be purchased and downloaded through stores which sell apps for Windows phones.

    How It Works

    • Purchase and download Navigon. Type in a partial or whole address, and search. Enter the starting address where indicated. Navigon will show maps with the correct directions. You can zoom in to better view the map. The Navigon works by directing you, block by block, to your destination, showing you the distance in miles in addition to other noteworthy information such as road work, bridges or slippery roads.
