Hard cargo carriers are more expensive than soft roof bags.

Soft Roof Bag

Soft roof bags are lighter than hard cargo carriers, making them easier to mount on a vehicle. This is important on trips where the carrier will be taken on and off numerous times. Soft roof bags adjust to the size of the items stored inside, but the excess material may create noise by fluttering in the wind while driving.

Storage Alternative

Another option for adding storage to a vehicle is the car back carrier. A car back carrier is attached to a trailer hitch or simply strapped to the back of the vehicle. Car back carriers are a good choice when the height of other bags is an issue.
