Because epoxy heats up as it cures, you must heat epoxy to soften it for removal. Use a heat gun set at 200 degrees to soften the epoxy and scrape it away with a metal scraper. You must work quickly and in small areas at a time. Be sure to work in a well-ventilated area.
Paint Solvents

Paint solvents are chemicals that dissolve paint. Solvents can help remove cured epoxy, but you will still need to use a heat gun in the process. Solvents are best for removing small amounts of uncured or non-curing epoxy. Epoxy.org recommends soaking your tabletop in solvents for a couple of hours before using a heat gun to soften the epoxy. Be sure to work in a well-ventilated area.
