Bathroom Paint Problems
Because the bathroom is often a poorly ventilated space that has to endure excess moisture, heat and humidity, it is important to choose the right paint for this space.

One of the most common problems associated with bathroom paint is the presence of mold or mildew. This is shown as discoloration on the paint's surface. Spray the affected area with bleach. If the color fades, it is most likely mold. If the color does not fade, it is probably a different type of stain. Peeling is another problem with bathroom paint.
Causes
-
Moisture and humidity in the bathroom are the causes of most problems in the bathroom. The steam of hot showers causes the paint to peel. Poor ventilation can lead to the buildup of mold or mildew on the paint.

Prevention/Solution
-
Be sure to paint only on dry, prepped surfaces. Only use paints designed to withstand moisture, although they may be more expensive. Interior house paint with a glossy finish is typically enough to create a barrier against moisture and humidity. Check for ventilation problems in the room that could lead to the presence of mold.
