Some device driver training courses provide instruction in how to write a program that controls mouse function.

Windows driver training involves instruction in the writing, maintenance and diagnostics of programs that control how peripheral devices communicate with computers. Entry-level courses, such as implementing driver functions, and advanced courses, such as programming drivers, are available.

  1. Advanced

    • Advanced instruction involves the programming aspects of driver programs, and classes are primarily composed of developers who specialize in Windows Device Model, or WDM, code. Subject matter includes peripheral component interconnect, or PCI, and PCI express devices, handling plug and play I/O request packets and advanced buffer handling.

    Duration

    • As of December 2010, the Developing Embedded Solutions for Microsoft Windows CE 3.0 course lasts 5 days, although the "Implementing a Device Driver" module is one of seven that comprise the program. The Advanced Windows Driver Model Drivers course from Azius Developer Training lasts 5 days also.
