Over the years, people have tried many things to remove unwanted hair. One of the most convenient tactics is the use of a depilatory cream. While these creams are quick and easy, using them on your face comes with a few pros and cons. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. What Is A Depilatory?

    • A depilatory is any liquid or cream used to remove unwanted hair from areas of the body such as the legs, bikini area or face. The word "depilatory" in Latin literally means to "deprive of hair." Depilatory creams are applied by hand or with a specific tool provided with the product then wiped off after a specified amount of time usually ranging between 5 and 15 minutes .

    Pros

    • Depilatory creams are easily purchased over the counter and are simple and easy to apply. Depilatory creams have a thick consistency that allows the consumer to treat a specific area without the product dripping onto other areas of the body, making these creams ideal for use on the face.

    Cons

    • Strong chemicals in depilatory creams may cause severe allergic reactions leaving the skin red, itchy or irritated. Some depilatory creams have a strong, offensive odor. Application can be messy.
