The biggest car show in Palmdale, California, is the Thunder on the Road show, held the second weekend of June since 1994. The show features classic cars, motorcycles, live music and food. Displays and tther events related to classic cars also take place.

Types

Show officials define classic cars as any vehicle from 1973 and earlier. At the show, a visitor sees classic antiques restored to near original condition. Another area of the show is customized cars, where antique cars are modified for various uses, such as street rods or low-riders. Imported cars, motorcycles and natural gas vehicles also appear.

Significance

Held annually the show gives owners and car restorers a chance to show off their work; many owners do the work on their vehicles themselves. The event also is a fundraiser for many charities in the Southern California area.
