PDS files are graphics files.

There are so many computer file extensions, such as .txt, .exe, .pdf and .pds, that it is easy to be confused about what type of file is a graphics file, text file or video file.

    • A .pds file is a PowerDirector Script file, which falls under the category of video files.

    • A .pds file can be a video project or slide show file using a digital-editing program called PowerDirector. This file type stores information on menus, sound, photos, videos and transitions for videos. This file type can be used to create DVD movies.

    Programs

    • There are two main Windows programs that run .pds files. They are Cyberlink PowerDirector 9 and CyberLink PowerProducer 5. PowerDirector is a professional digital editing program. PowerProducer allows users to produce the digital program they created and burn to DVDs in high definition.

    • A .pds file may also be a file created by NASA for identifying planetary data system files. These files store information from robotic missions to the planets in our solar system.
