What Is the Difference Between VNC & Ultra VNC?
VNC and Ultra VNC are both computer applications that allow a user on another computer to interact with your computer. Ultra VNC is a modified version of the original VNC technology.
-
Function
-
The main function of VNC, or Virtual Network Computing, is to allow a computer to be remotely controlled from another computer. The VNC user can use the keyboard and mouse to transmit commands to the remote system, and the remote system will relay graphics back to the VNC user. Ultra VNC is a modified version of VNC that adds additional features and functionality.
Features
-
The original VNC is something of a bare bones application, only providing the VNC user with the basic ability to interact with the remote computer. Ultra VNC, on the other hand, offers a variey of extra features, including a file transfer function, a chat function, and the ability to remotely control a single computer window instead of the entire desktop.

Considerations
-
VNC and Ultra VNC are both highly convenient in terms of accessing remote computers. They can be used to provide technical support remotely, and to access work files from your home. However, for security purposes, Ultra VNC is the better of the two, as it includes encryption for security purposes while regular VNC does not. Both versions are free software.
