PowerPoint Is Skipping Slides After the Office 2007 Upgrade

PowerPoint 2007 is part of the Microsoft Office suite of tools and is used to display slide-show presentations. Skipping (i.e. not displaying) slides that are included in the presentation is a common problem, though one that isn't restricted to the 2007 edition. A number of reasons can be behind it.

  1. Hidden Slides

    • PowerPoint features an option to hide slides from view so that they won't be included in a full-screen presentation. To check that a slide isn't hidden, right click on the slide thumbnail and ensure that "Hide Slide" isn't selected.

    Slide Timing

    • A slide that is set to be displayed for 0 seconds won't appear in the final presentation. Check that this isn't the case by viewing the timing for the current slide (it will appear under the "Transitions" tab at the top of the screen).

    Hardware Error

    • It's possible that the hardware being used to advance the slides (such as a keyboard or an infrared remote) is sending the wrong signal or an unreliable signal to PowerPoint. Try using a different device to move through the slides in the presentation to see if this solves the problem.
