Access 2007 Limits
Before you begin to design your database for your home or business needs, it is good to know the limitations of your software package. Microsoft Access 2007 is limited by several factors including the hardware you are running the software on.
-
File Limits
-
According to Microsoft, the maximum size of a single Access database is two gigabytes. This includes all the data, macros, data forms, indices and modules. If you need a larger database, you can split the data in two using part of data as a back-end while forms, queries and other front end data is in a second database.
User Limits
-
You are also limited by the number of simultaneous users who can access the database at the same time. In Access, 255 users can access the database at the same time.
-
Table Limits
-
You can have 2048 open tables in Access and 255 fields in each table, Microsoft says. The objects within the database table are limited to 32,768 and a table can hold two gigabytes of information. Table and field names are limited to 64 characters each.
