What Do You Use Between Block Pavers? thumbnail
Put sand between your block pavers for the best results on your patio.

When you're done laying block pavers, there is one more important task: choosing what to put between them. Sand is the best choice, and it is easy to apply. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Method

    • To get the best possible finish, sweep sand between the pavers, wet it lightly and compact the pavers. Repeat sweeping the sand and wetting it until the gaps are filled. This may take several repetitions.

    Benefits

    • Sweeping sand between block pavers increases their stability and helps inhibit weed and grass growth between the pavers.

    Tips

    • Use coarse concrete sand for this purpose. Some other types of sand are too fine and will not help the pavers interlock. Check the level of the sand each season, and add another layer and moisten it if needed.
