The American Humane Society leads the way to understanding human-animal interactions.

Established in 1877, the American Humane Society endeavors to protect children, pets and farm animals from cruelty, neglect and abuse. In an effort to assist individual animal protection agencies, the American Humane Society offers grants to shelter professionals.

      The Second Chance Fund was established to provide a second opportunity at a better life for animals victimized by abuse or neglect. Funding is provided to animal welfare and rescue groups who offer temporary care to animals, prior to adoption. The fund offers up to $2,000 for rescue groups and animal shelters. This grant is awarded throughout the year as funds are available.
