Ion Turntable User Guide
ION turntables are designed with computers in mind, and can be connected to most systems via USB port, so that you can listen to and record vinyl records. They require very little setup or experience with home audio.

ION turntables are designed to be connected to a computer via the USB port, although if a computer's sound card has stereo inputs, those can also be used (no pre-amp or additional amplification is needed). No software needs to be installed in order for the computer to detect the turntable.
Installation

While no software is needed for the PC to detect the turntable, software is needed in order for it to record the LPs. Most ION turntables come with EZ Vinyl Converter software, a free program that can be used to record and convert LP records to audio files.

Setup

Windows PCs usually need to be configured to record songs from a turntable. This typically involves going into the Control Panel and enabling the USB Audio Codec as a recording device, and disabling it as a playback device.
Recording

Once the turntable is properly set up and a record has been recorded, more work must still be done. Usually the recording has to be cut up into individual tracks and the individual songs have to be named. Sometimes the vinyl recording might need to be cleaned up as well, to remove pops and cracks from the source material.
