Boat Trailer Parking Regulations

The parking of boat trailers is regulated by each individual community.

The parking of a boat trailer is regulated by the local community and county administration. Many counties regulate the parking of trailers based on availability of parking spaces and size of the trailer.

Parking Permits

Some counties, such as Palm Beach County in Florida, require the purchase of a parking permit for your boat trailer. As of December 2010, the cost of a permit in this county was $37.28 per year.

Length of Parking

Most communities prohibit the parking of oversize vehicles, including boat trailers overnight and some limit the length of time a trailer is allowed to be parked in the same location. Tacoma, Washington, for example only allows a boat trailer to be parked on the street for a maximum of seven calendar days.

Location

Boat trailer parking on the street is prohibited in most cities across the United States and many communities only allow short term parking on the street. In many locations, when storing or parking a trailer for a long period of time you need to ensure the boat is out of the way and, in some cases, out of sight.
