The tea tree bonsai needs direct sunlight to survive, according to the website Bonsai Gardner. Make sure the tree receives natural light, not fluorescent lighting. Without plenty of direct sunlight, your tea tree bonsai will die.
Weather

Your tea tree bonsai will do fine in cool weather, but make sure it is protected from climates of 20 degrees F or less. If you are growing your tree inside, keep it away from vents and other heat sources.

The tea tree bonsai must be keep in moist soil at all times. Do not let its soil dry out or it will likely die, sometimes within a matter of hours, according to Bonsai Gardener. However, if you over water, the roots can rot.
