There are several resources and organizations dedicated to helping young widows find information about the mourning and rebuilding process. Many allow or encourage grieving widows to connect and share their feelings as a way of beginning the recovery process.

Online

Connect with others who have gone through what you are going through by joining an online support group. For example, YoungWidow.org is a non-profit organization that is exclusively dedicated to supporting and connecting young and grieving widows. The New York Times called YoungWidow.org "a commended resource," and Redbook Magazine said that the site "specifically addresses the concerns of any man or woman who has lost a spouse at a young age."

Books and Literature

Self-help and bereavement book, available online or at your local book store, are dedicated to healing and renewal and may help you navigate through grief by better understanding the grieving process. For example, books such as Adele Rice Nudel's "Starting Over: Help for Young Widows and Widowers" offers information and hope to those newly widowed.

Professional Counseling & Grief Services

A grief counselor, professional therapist or mental health professional can provide specific information and guidance throughout the grieving process. If you do not know of any specific services in your area, contact your family physician or religious advisor for guidance.
