Run a Self-Diagnosis

Start your troubleshooting with the TV's built-in self-diagnosis feature. Turn on the TV and use the remote control to access the menu. Scroll down to the support option and press the "Enter" button, then choose "Self-Diagnosis" and press "Enter" again. There are two options here; choose "Picture Test" and follow the on-screen instructions.

If your Samsung LCD TV isn't displaying anything, there are a few steps to consider. Press the "Menu" button. If the menu displays correctly, the picture problem is a source issue and you should check all of the connections and cables from your devices to the TV. If the menu doesn't appear, make sure the TV's standby power light is on. If you have audio on your selected source but don't have video, the problem may be the cable connecting the source (if, for example, the video cable is unplugged but the two audio inputs are connected) or the TV may need to be serviced.

My samsung just blew a second lamp. This seems to be an ongoing problem with thier junk. My samsung monitor lasted 25 months and failed. I was given a DVD / VHS recorder and stored it for a year in the house, and tried to use it, the DVD tray will not open. IWILL NEVER WASTE ANOTHER PENNY ON SAMSUNG AGAIN, AND I'LL ADVISE EVERYONE I MEET TO DO THE SAME. If they have a KNOWN problem they should fix customers BAD TV's or but them back.

Randy, I've got the same problem as yours. TV just blackout after a few seconds with still the sound at the background. How to fix this? So frustrating.

Our 40" LCD wall mount TV has a light picture with lots of Vertical bars running thru it. Can hardly see picture for the colored vertical bars. Can you tell me what is going on? It's a little over a year old. Help!

I have a LN37B550 the picture went out and I still have sound. I heard it is the power supply. Is that a part I can REPLACE?
