Medisoft Certification

Electronic health record programs can be certified by independent bodies.

Medisoft Clinical is a software company specializing in Healthcare Information Technology. As of 2010, their flagship software, Patient Records, had been certified by the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology, or CCHIT.

CCHIT

The CCHIT is a 501(c)(3) status nonprofit run by volunteers. The organization was founded in 2004 to help develop the standards that were required for electronic health record systems and has been certifying such systems since 2006. As of 2010, CCHIT was officially recognized by the U.S. government as a certifying body.

Standards

According to CCHIT's website, certifying Medisoft's health record system meant it has passed its standards for functionality, ability to work between multiple computer systems and its ability to secure patient files.

Latest Certification

As of 2010, the most recent certification for Medisoft's software was "CCHIT Certified product for CCHIT Ambulatory EHR 2008."
